Praise for Undertow

“Barbara Toboni is a graceful “singing star” recording our daily routines and mysteries with subtlety and gentle illumination. She has a striking ability to paint an arrestingly clear picture while simultaneously sharing exquisite wit and wisdom. Mother, lover, daughter, wife … Barbara is a natural poet encouraging us to be affectionate, tolerant and sturdy. Undertow is one of those rare chapbooks flowing with forgiveness: “I dive in/hoping I’ll find/the broken shell/of what used to be/and bring it back to you/mended. Reader, “curl up and wait/ for the next wave” of Toboni poems that will rush over you — a voice all to itself that matters, a pacing of words welcoming you with light.”

Leonore Wilson,  author of Western Solstice
